Nurah Kutty has a habit. When something gets comfortable, she trades it for something harder.

She started college at Rutgers. It was fine. But she wanted more, so she transferred to Georgetown. Nurah graduated as a Baker Scholar.

After Georgetown she went into investment banking at J.P. Morgan, and she was good at it. Banking taught her rigor: how to read a business through its numbers, how to move fast under pressure, how to be exact when exact matters.

By every outside measure, she was winning. But banking kept her far from the thing she cared about most: the people she was building for, and the chance to own an outcome from start to finish. "Leaving J.P. Morgan, I was seeking ownership," she says.

A classmate had joined a startup called Monk and told her about it. Monk builds AI that helps companies get paid faster = software that does the slow, manual work of chasing invoices and matching cash. Small team. Hard problem. Real customers. She felt she could do meaningful work with maximum freedom. So she made the leap again.

At Monk, Nurah leads growth and operations. First, Nurah improved our post-sales process and did a lot of work to ensure that our customers are getting even more attention. She now owns our conference and events strategy, deciding where we show up, why, and what we say when we get there. She builds the work that makes Monk the expert in the room: our State of AR reports, our one-pagers, the data that makes a CFO stop and think. She helped rebuild our pricing. She works across sales, marketing, and product every day, which is exactly the wide, hands-on role she came here for.

The thread running through Nurah's story is the same one running through Monk. We are a small group of people who could be coasting somewhere safe and chose not to. We like hard problems. We hand people real ownership early.
